Why do you separate out the USCT as voluntary rather than listing the on the main page with all of the state units? Those units were also voluntary.

When I started this site back in 2009, I tried to organize it in a logical way. For the Union, there were State designated units and US designated units. Originally, yes, the USCT units were starting to be organized as state units and were named accordingly. But most of them eventually moved to the USCT designation. So I split the US designated units between the regulars and the volunteers. The US Sharpshooter regiments and the USCT regiments are the volunteers. African-American regiments who were not designated as USCT units are in with the states. The 29th Connecticut is one such example. I hope this helps.
