  • Note: Hall’s Independent Battalion Michigan Sharpshooters consolidated with the 16th MI on April 16, 1865 or so, but they are not listed with that unit in the March 31, 1865 ORs. I suspect they were with the 16th MI from late March on, and I have placed them in 3/1/V/AotP without a source for now. More research is needed.

Hall’s Independent Battalion of Michigan Sharpshooters was consolidated with the 16th MI on April 16 or so, but they are not listed with that unit in the March 31, 1865 ORs.  I suspect they were with the 16th MI from late March on, and I’ve placed them in the 16th Michigan’s Brigade (3/1/V/AotP) without a source for now. More research is needed.

        My greatgrandfater Hall and several brotherswas at the 1st Battle of Petersburg with Wise’s Brigade. My mother’s family (Mount and Ruckman) came from the Upper Peninsula` of Michigan (Shelby and environs). I am trying to find out if any family members were present at 1st Petersburg and would be grateful for any information
