December 14, 1864

Maj. Gen. Edward O. C. Ord, USA, is in temporary command of the Army of the James, the Richmond, VA, Campaign.

Grimes’ Division, Second Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, departs the Shenandoah Valley en route to the Siege of Petersburg.
