Author: Dunham, Valgene

BTC’s Take: Will Whitlock of the 188th New York wrote many letters home, and almost 40 letters appear in this collection. Whitlock participated in the Battle of Boydton Plank Road, Warren’s Applejack Raid, and the Battle of Hatcher’s Run. Whitlock’s great-great-grandson Valgene Dunham collected anf edited this collection, adding lengthy chapters explaining what his ancestor experienced late in the Civil War.
