Note: The 4th New York Heavy Artillery served in a variety of roles at the Siege of Petersburg, including serving with Corps Artillery Reserves, the Union Siege Train, and as infantry in the Second Corps. In some cases individual companies were serving as artillery batteries while most of the rest of the regiment served as an infantry regiment or as separate infantry battalions. Refer to the notes for each offensive for details. The way I represent this unit may yet change. It was broken apart so many times and in various ways that it is VERY difficult to track its journey through the Siege of Petersburg.
