The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, Volume XL, Part 1 (Serial Number 80), p. 234: This casualty list indicates that the Third Division was formed on June 19, 1864, one day after the First offensive ended.  I am positive the regiment was in the area of Bermuda Hundred during the First Offensive and was considered a part of the Army of the James, but I am unsure exactly which sub-organization the regiment belonged to.  More research is needed.
