Summary: In this one-page report, Lieutenant Colonel William H. A. Speer of the 28th North Carolina covers his regiment’s movements and actions at the July 28, 1864 First Battle of Deep Bottom.  The 28th North Carolina was in Lane’s Brigade, Wilcox’s Division, Third Corps, Army of Northern Virginia.
