Summary: Summary: In this excerpt from Volume 19 of the Southern Historical Society Papers, Captain John W. Lewis of the Confederate Artillery gives an account of a two-gun section of artillery to which he was assigned in the emergency situation at the June 25, 1864 Battle of Staunton River Bridge.
