August 12-13, 1864 William B. Pike (Diary)

Wm. B. Pike Diary for August 12-13, 18641:

[Men were paid around noon the 12th, then] orders came to pack up for march. We started about 3 o’clock and marched to City Point, about ten miles. . . .and arrived . . . at midnight. . . . Our division commenced loading on transports and moved out and anchored in the river.
