Happy New Year to everyone following along in this little corner of cyberspace. I wanted to take this scheduled day off from daily Official Records postings to give readers an idea of what to expect in early 2012. The answer, unfortunately, is not too much. My wife and I are expecting our second son on January 6, 2012, and with that in mind I’ve scheduled out daily Official Records posts through April 2012. Expect to see mostly only those while we adjust to our new addition and the time it takes to make sure my three year old and newborn are happy, healthy and having fun. Once we have again settled into a somewhat normal routine, I hope to continue working on more good items for the site. As always, if you have materials pertaining to the Siege of Petersburg, we would love to have copies and make the information freely available here at Beyond the Crater. I should also add that if anyone is interested in transcribing newspaper articles and other copyright free materials for publication here, please use the Contact form at the top of the screen. Comments and suggestions on how to improve the site are always welcome.
