150 Years Ago Today at Petersburg: January 14, 1865

January 14, 1865

Major General John Gibbon is relieved from command of Second Division, Second Corps, Army of the Potomac in order to assume command of the Twenty-Fourth Corps, Army of the James.

Brigadier General Thomas A. Smyth assumes command of the Second Division, Second Corps, Army of the Potomac.
