150 Years Ago Today at Petersburg: January 9, 1865

January 9, 1865

Skirmish near Disputanta Station, VA, the Richmond, VA, Campaign.

Confederate dash on Union picket line manned by the Second Division, Sixth Corps (on the left) and the Third Division, Sixth Corps (on the right), a little before 6 a. m.

Ulysses S. Grant orders Army of the James commander Edward O. C. Ord to closely examine the lines on the Bermuda Hundred front to see if the Confederate Howlett Line could be carried in a frontal assault.
