Note: Only what was referred to in the regimental history as the “Right Wing” (Cos. A, B, C, D H, I) were ever present at the Siege of Petersburg.  The “Left Wing” (Cos. F, K, E, and G) traveled on a later transport and were sent directly to Wsshington, D. C., never stopping at the Siege.

Muster In: Organized at Concord and mustered in September 24, 1862.1
Muster Out: Return to Savannah June and mustered out July 8, 1865.2

  • “Right Wing” (Cos. A, B, C, D H, I) reaches Ft. Monroe at midnight of July 19.25
  • Steamed to City Point July 20.26
  • Disembarked at Bermuda Hundred on July 21. 26th MA already there, and 9th CT and 12th ME arrived July 21.27
  • Crossed to Deep Bottom morning of July 28 including skirmishing.28
  • Dug trenches til 5 pm on July 29.29
  • Returned to Bermuda Hundred camps by noon on July 30.30
  • Left Bermuda Hundred at noon on July 31 aboard S. R. Spaulding along with the 12th Maine.31
