3rd Virginia Reserves Battalion Infantry (Chrisman’s)

Editor’s Note: Do you have information on this unit’s role at the Siege of Petersburg?  Please contact us using the Contact button in the menu at the top of the screen.  We are happy to exchange information with other researchers.

Note: This unit was a temporary field organization in “the fall of 1864” which was composed of all of the “Valley Reserves” organizations present around Richmond, organized into six companies.  I’m not sure how long it lasted or exactly when it was either begun or ended.  This unit was NOT the 3rd Virginia Reserves Battalion, which was confusingly already in existence as a permanent organization near Richmond.1
