Actions at Four-Mile Creek and Dutch Gap, VA.

Federal demonstration on the north bank of the James River, at Deep Bottom, as Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, USA, attempts to divert Gen. Robert E. Lee’s, CSA, attention away from Petersburg, Virginia, with little success, including combats at:
a) White’s Tavern
b) Charles City Road
c) New Market Road
d) Fussell’s Mill
e) Gravel Hill
f) Bailey’s Creek
g) Deep Run (or Creek), etc, the Richmond, VA, Campaign.
8/13-20/1864.
Skirmish near Strasburg, VA, as the action begins to pick up between Lieut. Gen. Jubal Early, CSA, and Maj. Gen. Philip H. Sheridan, USA.
