The Century Magazine

The Century Magazine was a long running magazine in 19th and 20th Century America. Two hundred and thirty Civil War participants published their reminiscences of the conflict over the years in The Century. Volumes 23 to 58 of the magazine, from 1881 to 1899, can be found at Cornell’s Making of America web site. The best were collected and published in 1887-1888 as the four volume Battles and Leaders of the Civil War. The articles which didn’t make Battles and Leaders appearing here at The Siege of Petersburg Online are divided up into the three relevant campaigns mentioned above, and then sorted in chronological order as they appeared in The Century Magazine.
