TELEGRAPHIC REPORTS OF THE PRESS ASSOCIATION.

____________

FROM PETERSBURG.

PETERSBURG, July 2—There was some firing last night on our lines from batteries seven and ten, on the eastern side of the city, resulting from a supposed advance of the enemy on Jenkins’ front whilst his men were relieving pickets.  The firing lasted about thirty minutes, and amounted to little or nothing.

There is nothing doing to day but shelling on the part of the enemy.
