Octave Bruso Diary: May 5, 1864

Thursday May 5, 18641

Beautiful day. Safeguard at Melville Gold mill. Wrote a letter to my wife. Got marching orders at evening.  Arrived at ___ Mine R__ (Editor: unclear) early in the morning. Heavy fighting all the afternoon.
