The 28th United States Colored Troops moves from City Point to join the Attached Brigade, First Division, Twenty-Fifth Corps, Army of the James.
Major General Philip H. Sheridan telegraphs Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant that his cavalry forces will reach the vicinity of City Point on March 26, at which point he and Grant can discuss the specifics of Sheridan’s next move.
Confederate Special Orders No. 13 is another order regarding the Confederate artillery reorganization and does the following:
- Dickenson’s Battery and Walker’s Battery, of Owen’s Battalion, are to turn over their armament, horses, and equipment to Lieutenant Colonel C. M. Braxton.
- Chew’s MD Battery of McIntosh’s Battalion will also turn over their armament to Braxton.
- Lieutenant Colonel Braxton is to take this equipment in order to fully reequip his artillery battalion, which is located near Burgess’ Mill on the Confederate right southwest of Petersburg.
