150 Years Ago Today at Petersburg: February 12, 1865

February 12, 1865

Federal expedition from Bermuda Hundred to Fearnsville and to Smithfield, VA, finds no Confederate resistance of any kind in this area. 12/11-15/1865.

Major General Gouverneur K. Warren uses two brigades of his Fifth Corps, Army of the Potomac to complete fortifications within a bridgehead across Hatcher’s Run at the Vaughan Road, allowing this area to be used as a jumping off point for future operations.
