150 Years Ago Today at Petersburg: June 17, 1864

June 17, 1864

Skirmish on the Bermuda Hundred, VA, front, as Gen. Pierre G.T. Beauregard fends off the 2nd Corps under Maj. Gen. Winfield Hancock, USA. Gen. Lee realizes Petersburg is Grant’s target and sends the Army of Northern Virginia to Petersburg, the Richmond (VA) Campaign.
