I saw today that John Foskett reviewed Noah Andre Trudeau’s second edition of The Last Citadel: Petersburg June 1864—April 1865 at Civil War News. In the review, John calls the book “still the best single-volume treatment of the entire 10-month Petersburg Campaign,” and I agree with that assessment. I also agree that if you own the original edition, this new version doesn’t justify a “re-buy.” That said, I’m glad Savas Beatie brought Trudeau’s classic book back to the forefront with their typically affordable pricing model.
