Unit: 117th New York
Unit Affiliation: (1), 2, X
Title: A History of the One Hundred and Seventeenth Regiment, N.Y. Volunteers, [Fourth Oneida] from the date of its organization. August 1862, till that of its muster out
Author: Mowris, J.A.
BTC’s Take: This relatively early (1866) regimental history by the regimental surgeon J.A. Mowris covers a unit which was mostly on the Bermuda Hundred front during its stay at the Siege of Petersburg from June-December 1864 as a member of the 10th Corps and later the 24th Corps. Mowris provides a pretty detailed look at the battles of the Siege of Petersburg, especially the Second Battle of Petersburg and the Battle of the Crater.
